Day two of the Weld camp and our first visit from the resident police officer is received. As Forestry Tasmania (FT) are yet to get angsty enough to tell the police to remove the camp and all contraptions, it is purely a courtesy call and head count to see what and who are involved with the camp and efforts to stop the road to the Weld river and valley.

Shortly after the visit from our friendly local PC, a rather flashy 4WD rolls into camp, picking its way through people dogs and cars, sending people rushing around, thinking it was a visit from a FT head honcho. Thankfully it was just a visit from a Fishery officer, checking for any poaching action and quelling his interest as to who and what is going on at the newly established road camp. With pleasantries and names exchanged, he leaves us to pursue possible poachers and cross other rivers, promising to come back.

With camp now being in its second day, people have started exploring the bush around us, finding creeks to swim in, trees to climb and figuring out road ways and back routes to amazing pieces of forest and button grass plains that are ordinarily shut away behind the FT gates, out of sight of the public and inaccessible to the average Joe.
